STEVE BOS, PRENSA PTY LTD

ACLCA President

Steven has been involved in the contaminated land and hazardous materials industry for over ten years, and is currently a managing consultant at Prensa Pty Ltd. He holds a BSc (Hons - Geology) and MSc (Environment - Hydrogeology). In his primary consulting areas, Steven has a range of experience in contaminated land projects, working with statutory environmental audits, due diligence assessments, human health risk assessments, preliminary and detailed site assessments and remediation projects.  Steven also has significant experience in hazardous materials management, having undertaken and managed asbestos risk assessments, asbestos abatement projects and other hazardous material projects. He is also heavily involved in managing asbestos in soil contaminated sites, and has been actively involved in the Asbestos in Soils subcommittee.  Steven has also consulted in the areas of dangerous goods and hazardous substances, undertaking risk assessments and compliance investigations. Steven has experience in occupational hygiene assessments, including risk assessments and monitoring projects.

JIM NIKOLAREAS, MONARC ENVIRONMENTAL

ACLCA Treasurer

Jim is the Managing Director of Monarc Environmental Pty Ltd.  He has a B.Comm from Melbourne University and is a Fellow of the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants and an affiliate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.  Jim’s interests are in carbon pollution management and emissions trading.  He has extensive experience in developing environmental management plans and impact assessments for lineal infrastructure.  His role has given him exposure to dealing with Government Regulators on significant environmental issues.  Prior to the environmental sector, Jim worked with Telstra in Australia and Saudi Arabia, was involved in the electricity privatisation process and has managed a number of large service companies. 



GLENN THIELE, OTEK AUSTRALIA

ACLCA Immediate Past President

Glenn Thiele is Senior Principal and National Manger Sustainability and Greenhouse for OTEK Australia Pty Ltd. He holds a BEng(Chemical) and a Master of Environmental Studies. For the last 15 years he has been an environmental consultant, based in Melbourne. Specialties include both large and small scale environmental site assessments and site remediation works. Glenn also works on due diligence audits both for property transactions and for operational facilities. He has a background in air quality assessment, air dispersion modelling and air pollution control. He has also assisted a wide range of industries in obtaining their environmental approvals.  His current roles see him advising on sustainability and climate change.


ALEX SIMOPOULOS, URS AUSTRALIA

ACLCA National Chair

Alex Simopoulos is an Associate Environmental Geologist for the Melbourne office of URS with sixteen years of professional experience, mostly in the area of contaminated land management. Alex is currently the manager of the Geo-Environmetal Management workgroup at URS.  Having been involved with contaminated land management since 1990, Alex has extensive knowledge of the industry and is well versed with the developments of this field of expertise over the years.

Alex's technical experience has involved all aspects of contaminated land management, including site assessment (soil, groundwater, surface water, soil vapours), statutory environmental auditing (assisting auditor), due diligence reviews, risk assessment, soil and groundwater remediation, site environmental management and liability cost estimation using probabilistic methodologies.  His broad contaminated land management experience has been acquired from industries such as petroleum, manufacturing, mining, smelting, metal fabrication, rural, automotive plants, chemical factories. Alex has worked in Victoria, Tasmania, NSW and Western Australia and overseas in the Philippines, Germany and Mauritania.



PETER GRINGINGER, LANE PIPER

Peter has over 14 years experience in various aspects of soil, groundwater and environmental investigations, assessment, audit, remediation and management projects and programs. Peter has extensive experience in the assessment, management and remediation of soil and groundwater contamination with the project management of large and complex assessment and remediation projects. He has undertaken a large number of contaminated land site assessment studies with extensive experience in the Petro-chemical Industry, including field investigations, data review, interpretation and reporting, modelling of contaminant fate and transport, quantitative environmental risk assessments and has managed various large groundwater remediation projects.  Peter also has extensive experience in groundwater resources assessment and management, waste-water disposal, landfills, mine dewatering, geothermal exploration and resources utilisation.



ANDREW MELLETT, BEVERIDGE WILLIAMS

Andrew is an experienced Senior Environmental Engineer and Manager of the Environmental Division at Beveridge Williams.  As a land contamination consultant, Andrew has managed a variety of greenfield and brownfield projects for a diverse range of clients including local government, government departments and private developers. He also has experience in health risk assessment, preparation of soil management and remediation plans and technical reviews of environmental reports. In particular, Andrew's main focus is providing technical and project management input for sites requiring Statutory Environmental Audits.

PETER EGBERTS, GHD

Peter has over 15 years experience in environmental science and environmental management. Peter has worked on and managed and directed projects assessing, managing and remediating soil and groundwater nationally and internationally. Peter has key skills in remediation, due diligence and geology as it relates to contamination migration.



TRAVIS SHREEVE, NOEL-ARNOLD AND ASSOCIATES

Travis has eight years experience in the health, safety and environment industry. Noel Arnold and Associates employed Travis to strengthen its environmental capabilities particularly in the area of contaminated land and also to take on a role as a Team Manager.  Within this position Travis is responsible for the organisation and planning of his team (ten consultants) with respect to projects involving contaminated site assessments and remediation (including statutory environmental audits), environmental due diligence assessments, and other property risk related issues (such as asbestos, hazardous materials, and dangerous goods).  Travis' project experience includes environmental assessments at contaminated sites, occupational hygiene assessments and asbestos in soils investigations. Travis has also specific training in Occupational Health and Safety having completed his graduate diploma in 2005 and is an active member of the Australian Contaminated Land Consultants Association (ACLCA) OH&S Sub-committee.
