JOHN THROSSELL, PARSONS BRINCKERHOFF
ACLCA President
John Throssell is a principal environmental hydrogeologist
with Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB) and has over 20 years of
professional consulting experience in Australia and overseas.

ALEX SIMOPOLOUS, URS AUSTRALIA
ACLCA Vice President
Alex Simopoulos is an Associate Environmental Geologist for the
Melbourne office of URS with sixteen years of professional
experience, mostly in the area of contaminated land management.
Alex is currently the manager of the Geo-Environmetal Management
workgroup at URS. Having been involved with contaminated land
management since 1990, Alex has extensive knowledge of the industry
and is well versed with the developments of this field of expertise
over the years. Alex's technical experience has involved all
aspects of contaminated land management, including site assessment
(soil, groundwater, surface water, soil vapours), statutory
environmental auditing (assisting auditor), due diligence reviews,
risk assessment, soil and groundwater remediation, site
environmental management and liability cost estimation using
probabilistic methodologies. His broad contaminated land
management experience has been acquired from industries such as
petroleum, manufacturing, mining, smelting, metal fabrication,
rural, automotive plants, chemical factories. Alex has worked in
Victoria, Tasmania, NSW and Western Australia and overseas in the
Philippines, Germany and Mauritania.

DR LYNDON BELL, GOLDER ASSOCIATES
ACLCA Secretary
Dr Lyndon Bell is a Senior Environmental Engineer with
Golder Associates specialising in contaminated site
assessment, remediation and groundwater contaminant transport
modelling projects. Lyndon has undertaken projects in
contaminated site assessment, environmental due diligence,
groundwater and soil remediation system design and groundwater
modelling at industrial and commercial facilities, fuel depots,
waste water treatment facilities and landfills in NSW and Victoria.
Prior to joining Golder Associates, Lyndon was invited to undertake
postdoctoral groundwater remediation research at the University of
Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, one of the world’s leading groundwater
research institutions.

GLENN THIELE, OTEK AUSTRALIA
ACLCA Treasurer
Glenn Thiele is Senior Principal and Manger Vic/Tas/SA for OTEK
Australia Pty Ltd. He holds a BEng(Chemical) and a Master of
Environmental Studies. For the last 15 years he has been an
environmental consultant, based in Melbourne. Specialties include
both large and small scale environmental site assessments and site
remediation works. Glenn also works on due diligence audits both
for property transactions and for operational facilities. He has a
background in air quality assessment, air dispersion modelling and
air pollution control. He has also assisted a wide range of
industries in obtaining their environmental approvals. His
current roles see him working to develop the experiences and skills
of people in the profession, so that they may achieve their
potential.

LUKE CATTLIN, NOEL ARNOLD & ASSOCIATES
ACLCA Immediate Past President
Luke is Principal Environmental Consultant with Noel Arnold and
Associates. Luke has extensive experience in the management of
contaminated land and remediation. Luke has experienced most
aspects of working in the field of site contamination within
consultancy, industry and with regulatory authorities. Luke was
appointed as an Environmental Auditor pursuant to the Environment
Protection Act, 1970 in November 2003.

HELEN SZABO, COFFEY ENVIRONMENTS
ACLCA Committee Member
Helen has over 11 years experience in the contaminated land
industry, working with both soil and groundwater assessment
projects predominantly in Victoria. Helen’s current role
within Coffey Environments is as the Team Leader of the Audit
group.

MICHELLE GRASSI, ERM
ACLCA Committee Member
Dr
Michelle Grassi is a Senior Environment Scientist with EMR
Australia, working within the site
investigation and remediation team. Michelle has a PhD in
Environmental Chemistry and over seven years experience in
Australia, previously working with CSIRO Land and Water and the
West Australian Department of Water.
THOMASIN BALES, MEINHARDT INFRASTRUCTURE &
ENVIRONMENT
ACLCA Committee
Member
Thomasin is an Associate in
the Environment team at Meinhardt Infrastructure and Environment.
She has twelve years of experience in a range of environmental
consulting fields, including contaminated land, environmental
management, waste, stormwater and flora/fauna.
